Allan H. Romberg, 76, a resident of Elk Grove Village, IL. for 7 years. Born in Hannibal, MO., he passed away at Arden Courts of Elk Grove on March 5, 2017. He was a retired salesman. Allan was the beloved husband of Dorothy E. (nee Briscoe) for 47 years; loving father of Lauren R. Emme, Stephen (Laura) Romberg, and Nancy K. (Stephen) Mueller; devoted son of the late Henry and the late Verna (nee Hemmann); dear brother of David Romberg, and Gayle (Kim) Eggerstadt; and cherished grandfather of Sara, Megan, A.J., Erin, and Keri. Family and friends will gather at Grand View Funeral Home, 11116 Hwy 61 in Hannibal on Friday, March 10 at 11 a.m. for a brief visitation. Committal will follow at Grand View Burial Park at noon. Gerald F. McAvoy, 76, of Mt. Prospect for 48 years passed away March 2, 2017. Gerald was Founder and President of McAvoy Bros. Plumbing of Chicago for 30 years, a Vietnam Navy Veteran (SeaBees), member of the VFW-Park Ridge, Loyal Order of the Moose-Portage Park, and of Local 130-Chicago. Beloved husband of Sandra (nee Giovannoni) for 53 years; loving father of Susan L. McAvoy, and Gerald M. (Elishah) McAvoy; dear brother of Daniel (the late Jan), the late Elaine (the late Eddie) Kaczmarczyk, the late Raymond (the late Roslynn), and the late James (Alice) McAvoy; and cherished grandfather of Michael David McAvoy. Visitation Thursday, March 9, from 3 to 9 p.m. with a chapel service at 7:30 p.m. at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village. Interment will be private. Virginia was a 58-year resident of Elk Grove Village, and served as the volunteer secretary to Sister Monica, the principal at Queen of the Rosary School, for many years in the 1960s. She then worked as a principal's secretary in School District 59, serving at Ridge School and Clearmont School in Elk Grove before finishing her career at Forest View Elementary School, in Mt. Prospect. Virginia also served as a volunteer for the Elk Grove Food Pantry for several years. A Memorial Mass will be held on Friday, March 10, at 11:30 a.m. at Queen of the Rosary Church, 750 W. Elk Grove Boulevard, Elk Grove Village. Interment will follow at 1 p.m. at St. Michael the Archangel Cemetery in Palatine, where family and friends are asked to gather at the main office.

Ellen R. Meeks (nee Larson), 80, of Elk Grove Village passed away on February 19, 2017 at Alexian Brothers Hospice. Beloved wife of Carl Meeks for 57 years; loving mother of Lori (Chris) Panfil, Julie (Scott) Graham, Barbara (Brian) Griffith, Anne (Phil) Davis; cherished grandmother of Jennifer, Kelly, Victor, Dean, Elizabeth, Cory and Derek; great grandmother of Gavin. Her family meant the world to her. She enjoyed movies, reading, cooking, crossword puzzles, travel, museums and estate sales. Ellen was a long-time Elk Grove Village employee with both the Police and Fire Departments. Private Services will be held at Grove Memorial Chapel. Inurnment at Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery.

Loving father of Roger (Terri) Burgos, Ronald Burgos and Nancy (Paul) Jendrycki; cherished grandfather of Justin, Brandon, Sarah, Mark, Parker, Paige and great grandfather of Bradley, Camden, Lilianna and Avianna. He was the beloved husband of the late Anna (nee Cottonaro, 1996) for 57 years; loving father of the late Jennie Lee Stompanato (1988); dear grandfather of Frank (Louise), and Carole Stompanato; cherished great grandfather of Frankie, Sara Stompanato, Monika, Jennifer Ziemann; honorary “Papa” to Sophie and Henry Lichner; and devoted brother of Madeline Berg. Tom was the beloved husband of the late Patricia (nee Stokes, 2012) for 56 years. Tom and Pat met in the Air Force while serving their country. He was the loving father of Thomas (Annita), Bonnie (Jim) McIsaac, William (Debbie), Mark (Debbie), Paul (Monette), James (Marion), Tara (Jack) Demkovich, David (Christine), and Douglas; and cherished grandfather and great grandfather of many.
